Gavin's Short Story

Abstract

A little boy went fishing at the beach with his father. After a few minutes he felt what he thought was a bite, so he jerked the line setting the hook. Then began reeling the lien in as fast as he could. When he reeled it in, to his surprise, it was a glass bottle. His father unhooked the bottle and noticed a rolled up piece of paper inside it. The little boy was so excited, he thought could it be a treasure map, lost by an old pirate. The dad opened the bottle and unrolled the paper. To their surprise, a very simple note was wrote on the paper saying “This bottle was thrown in the ocean in Jamaica, in memory of my sister whom loved the ocean and to travel”. It went on to say “we would love to see how far it travels, please take a picture of yourself and note where you are at, and place it in the bottle, and then return it to the ocean. So that one day it may return to us, and we can see how far it has traveled. The little boy was so excited as his dad took his picture of him holding his fishing pole and the bottle. He couldn’t wait to tell everyone of his great catch. They then printed the picture off and placed it in the bottle, and set it back out to sea. This little boy could not wait to go fishing again, and always told this story to anyone that would listen about his huge catch.
