Description

What Does 4-H Mean to Me?

Abstract

4-H is like an open door, you just don’t know what’s on the inside. Being in 4-H is an astronomical part of who I am today. It’s my family, my life and my future. I love the way that you can be yourself to fit in with others. Everyone supports each other and looks out for each other, no matter what. Growing up in a community like this has taught me hard work, accomplishments, failures, goal setting and leadership. Through my accomplishments I have succeeded, even though I have also failed, I get right back up and try again.
President Bill Clinton once said ‘If every kid in America were in 4-H, we’d have about half of the problems we’ve got.’ This quote means to me that all of us 4-H’ers as a whole can overcome great challenges. As an individual you can only do so much, but I feel that if we all come together we can do great things. 4-H has given me many great opportunities that I would not have experienced without it. I have been able to show at the county fair, participated in shooting sports and a have attended many county camps. I have also been able to attend several State 4-H Camps at Jackson’s Mill. In doing these things, 4-H has allowed me to meet tons of great people.
4-H means the world to me. My leadership skills have taught me to speak in front of crowds. This has helped me lead projects in my community and has taught me responsibility. I have learned to care for my animals through 4-H. They need food, water and attention just like we do. It has taught me so many life skills that I will have for the rest of my life.
These are just a few examples of things that 4-H has taught me. But 4-H means so much more than this, more than any amount of words could ever describe. My name is Morgan and this is what 4-H means to me.
